HOW
DID IT ALL START?
Well, just like with all bird people ... You buy or adopt a bird and
then another bird comes along ... and another ... and another ... they make babies
... you need more cages ... then an aviary ... and YOU ARE A BREEDER!
Anyway, meet my crew (please click to enlarge pictures):
| This is Zena ... Actually the person before me called her
Flag. Silly guy. Later I changed her to Zena. Zena needed more
stimuli than I could give her, so I got her a full-time mate. |

Meet Thor -- As you can see Zena REALLY took to him. What
a LUCKY GUY! |
Since my neighbors weren't too happy about Zena's happy 'calling
rituals', she and Thor went to a breeder who is taking very good care of them.
Now meet Rowboat (getting
comfy in my mom's collar).

Rowboat got her name because of her (charming) handicap -- she is
splaylegged. At that time she was still tame. But then she developed a
deep aversion for any hands that DIDN'T have gold nails on (she was used to mine), and
then eventually as she matured into an adult, even the golden nails didn't stop her from
wanting a piece from my (and everyone else's) hands. So she got a mate and has had
many babies since. |
Oh yeah ... and that's how I got into breeding. Now I have a BUNCH of
lovebirds and cockatiels, and co-own some society finches with Sibylle Faye, and will be
getting some scarlett-chested parakeets soon (COOOOL!) ...
